Coreen Ridge

Coreen Ridge answers the objection people raise about the headland. It sits on the eastern slope, out of the prevailing wind entirely, and is arranged around a walled courtyard that stays usable in every month of the year.

The house steps down the slope in three levels, so no room looks into another and the roof of the lowest is a terrace for the one above. The view is across the estuary rather than out to sea — softer, greener, and considerably less dramatic, which is precisely why some buyers prefer it.

It was built for a couple who had spent two winters on the western side of the head and wanted the same coast with the volume turned down.
